The Golden Globes have been cancelled. This is what I found No No Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

RECIPIENTS OF “THE 65th ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS” TO BE ANNOUNCED AT BEVERLY HILTON PRESS CONFERENCE ON JAN. 13

HOLLYWOOD, CA, January 7, 2008 – The Hollywood Foreign Press Association today announced that the recipients of Golden Globe Awards in 25 categories will be revealed during an hour-long HFPA press conference at The Beverly Hilton to be covered live by NBC News beginning at 6:00 pm PST on January 13. “The 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards” NBC telecast and champagne dinner in The Beverly Hilton’s International Ballroom is officially cancelled.

“We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007’s outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television,” said Jorge Camara, President of The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. “We take some comfort, however, in knowing that this year’s Golden Globe Award recipients will be announced on the date originally scheduled.”

Golden Globes axed, replaced by press conference: LA Times
3 hours ago

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — This year's Golden Globes ceremony is to be cancelled after actors vowed to boycott the event in support of striking Hollywood writers, the Los Angeles Times reported on its website on Monday.

The Times, citing an email sent by broadcasters to studios, reported that the traditional televised dinner and prize presentation had been scrapped in favor of a press conference and a scaled-back event.

The Globes organizers, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), and NBC, the event's broadcasters, were not immediately available for comment.

The fate of the Globes -- due to be held in Beverly Hills on Sunday -- had been hanging in the balance ever since striking writers confirmed plans to erect picket lines around the awards show last week.

On Friday, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) announced that its members would not cross picket lines set up by writers, who are locked in a bitter dispute with film and television producers.

The actors decision immediately called into question plans for the Globes, which are usually televised live by NBC, one of the companies which is the subject of strike action by the Writers Guild of America (WGA).

According to the Times report, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) had reached a compromise deal that would allow winners to receive their awards informally on Sunday.

The victors would be announced in a televised press conference instead of the usual awards ceremony. The announcements would be broadcast by NBC News, a division of NBC not affected by the writers strike.

Hollywood screenwriters downed tools on November 5 after the WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) failed to agree terms for a new contract that expired in October.

Negotiations have foundered over the writers' demands for an increased share of profits from Internet and new media sales.

The two-month strike has forced the suspension of numerous television series as well as the postponement of work on several Hollywood films.

The dispute has also cast a shadow over plans for next month's 80th Academy Awards, the highlight of the movie industry's awards season.

Last month it emerged that the WGA had barred its members from working at both the Oscars and the Golden Globes, ruling out the possibility of granting a waiver to the two awards shows.

They should just give the writers what they want or actually what they deserve and we would all be getting ready to watch the Season Premier of Day 7 next Monday and also the Golden Globes. No No Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
